This workshop is an exciting opportunity for students who have always dreamed of creating their own 3D games but have little to no programming experience. Unleash your creativity and bring your ideas to life as you learn to develop 3D games using the industry-standard Unreal Engine. You’ll be introduced to the powerful tools and features of the engine, and learn how to create and manipulate 3D assets, create interactive gameplay, and develop a basic understanding of programming concepts.

  • A screen shows the work of one of the stuents of the workshop. It is a model of a ball in the Unreal Engine editor, rotated and modified with different materials
  • A student of the sumer workshops works on Unreal Engine editor. he is creating a cylinder and transforming it by rotating and scaling

You will learn how to use Unreal Engine’s visual scripting system, Blueprints, to control gameplay and create interactive experiences without needing to previously know a programming language. Imagine creating your own 3D worlds, designing characters, and creating an immersive gameplay experience. You will work on hands-on projects and exercises which will give you the opportunity to apply the concepts learned and create your own 3D games.

  • Big screen shows the example used by the instructor on how to create a simple game environment, with different obstacles and platforms, in the Unreal Engine editor
  • Two students attending the workshop work on the same computer using the Unreal Engine editor. The project shows a dark and laberynthic scenario
  • The instructor in purple shirt helps a student with his project, while the rest of them pay attention to the advice and work on their projects

By the end of the workshop, you’ll have the skills and knowledge to create interactive 3D games using the Unreal Engine and be ready to take the next steps in your education to break into the game development industry while having fun creating games as a hobby.

Students will learn:

  • Coding basics using Unreal Engine’s Blueprint system.
  • Basic video game programming concepts, including character animation, character behaviors, sound effects, music, and processing user input.
  • Game development math such as 3D coordinate systems, vectors, and linear equations.
  • Physics topics such as gravity, friction, opposing forces, and momentum.

Outcomes of the workshop:

  • Design and develop your own 3D video game.

Schedule:

  • 8 July to 19 July
