Student Projects

Team projects are a core component of the curriculum of the Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and Game Design. As a student, you will have the opportunity to take part in video game development and to work on interactive projects alongside students from other specializations. These yearly projects will give you the chance to apply your knowledge of programming, systems design and game development, taking part in the different stages of the creation process. Here are just a few examples of projects that students on your degree have worked on.

Career Prospects

The combination of programming, computer science and game design allows you to build a hybrid profile, able to translate creative concepts into functional interactive systems.

These skills can be applied to video game development and also to other fields that require interactive software, simulation, systems design or digital tools.

Possible professional fields

Gameplay Programmer

Brings game designs to life by implementing mechanics, user interfaces, character behavior, interactive dialogue and other elements that are a direct part of the gameplay experience.

Technical Designer

Connects creative design with technical implementation. Prototypes systems, configures mechanics and develops tools that help the team build, test and improve an interactive experience.

Software Engineer

Designs, develops, tests and maintains software systems. The skills acquired can be applied both to video game development and to other applications and interactive environments.

Mucho Macho: A Mobile and Desktop Co-Op Game developed in 48-Hours

DigiPen Europe-Bilbao developers built Mucho Macho, a cross-platform co-op game for mobile and PC, in 48 hours at Global Game Jam 2026, earning Best Theme Implementation.

Nine DigiPen graduates bring their talents to the hit 2024 game “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants Unleashed"

Nine alumni from DigiPen Europe-Bilbao contributed to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants Unleashed, sequel to the 2023 film.

Have you ever wondered what makes a mechanic work, what makes a character respond to your actions, or what brings a digital environment to life?

Behind every interactive experience there are carefully designed systems, rules and code. This degree will allow you to understand how video games and other interactive applications are conceived, programmed and developed.

The Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and Game Design combines the fundamentals of computer science with the principles of game design. Over four years you will learn programming in C, C++ and other languages, and you will develop a way of thinking that integrates technical, creative and design decisions.

Each year you will apply and expand your knowledge through video game projects developed in multidisciplinary teams alongside students from other specializations. Through these projects you will learn to turn ideas into functional systems, design and test mechanics, solve technical problems and collaborate throughout the different stages of development. These skills are also relevant to other fields that combine programming, interaction, simulation, graphics and systems design.

Who is this degree for?

The Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and Game Design is aimed at people passionate about programming, video games and technology, who also want to understand how interactive systems, mechanics and experiences are designed and developed. If you enjoy solving problems, turning ideas into code and working on projects that combine creativity and technology, this degree is designed for you.

With this degree you will:

  • Build strong programming fundamentals

You will learn the principles of computer science and work with languages such as C and C++ to develop software, video games and interactive systems.

  • Design and develop game systems and mechanics

You will turn design concepts into functional mechanics, behaviors and systems, learning to design, prototype and test interactive experiences.

  • Apply your knowledge in multidisciplinary projects

You will take part in video game projects developed as a team, collaborating with programmers, designers and artists throughout the different stages of development.

Academic roadmap

As a student of the Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and Game Design, you will progressively develop your knowledge of programming, computer science and interactive systems design. Over the four years you will learn to apply these fundamentals to video game projects, working with languages such as C and C++ and going deeper into areas such as gameplay programming, systems design, engines and development tools, computer graphics, artificial intelligence and simulation.

As you advance through the program, you will broaden your technical knowledge and learn to tackle increasingly complex problems, turning design ideas into functional systems. Every year you will take part in projects developed in multidisciplinary teams, collaborating with students from other specializations and experiencing the different stages of video game development.

During the final years you will be able to go deeper into different areas of specialization and shape your education around your professional interests. On completing the degree, you will have a solid foundation in computer science and game development, hands-on experience in collaborative projects and the skills needed to apply your knowledge both in the video game industry and in other fields related to interactive software, simulation and systems design.
