We live in an era where computers are everywhere, and we know how to use them for doing simple tasks. However, we typically know little about how they are built and how they operate beyond the software. This workshop unveils the inner workings of your personal computers or laptops.

Imagine having the ability to select and purchase your own components and assemble them into a machine that is tailored to your specific needs and budget. This workshop will take you on a journey through the exciting world of PC building, where you’ll learn the ins and outs of selecting the right components, assembling them, and troubleshooting and maintaining a PC.

Throughout the workshop, you’ll work on hands-on projects where you’ll have the chance to build and customize your own PC under the guidance of instructors. You’ll learn best practices for cable management, cooling, and overclocking to ensure that your PC runs at optimal performance. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have the skills and knowledge to build and customize your own PCs. This workshop is an excellent starting point for students interested in pursuing a career in computer science or for anyone who wants to gain a basic understanding of PC building and customization.

The workshop in PC building will provide you with details on every component on your PC, such as memory types, GPUs, CPUs, motherboards, peripherals, and many others. You will also learn how to assemble, repair, provide maintenance, and upgrade your PCs.

Students will learn:

  • To recognize PC parts and understand their characteristics.
  • To disassemble a computer completely and reassemble it.
  • To understand how the hardware has evolved throughout the years.
  • To perform preventive maintenance of the computer to avoid breakdowns.
  • To diagnose and repair faults.
  • To compare current component standards and price values, as well as their compatibilities.
